Unrivalled expertise in claim navigation
Empowering your recovery with expertise and compassion
When disaster strikes, the path to recovery can feel overwhelming. At Joe Hensley Public Insurance Adjusters we understand the turmoil and confusion that follows a catastrophic event — and we take the insurance half of it off your hands.
A claim is rarely settled on what you can see. The scorched wall is obvious; the smoke that pushed through the wall cavities, the moisture still sitting in a subfloor, the roof slope nobody walked and the code upgrades your rebuild will legally require are not. Those hidden categories are where settlements are won or lost.
Rooted in the Houston area and based in Alvin, we are more than a service — we are your community partner. We inspect the loss ourselves, build an independent scope and estimate, and present your carrier with documentation it has to answer in writing.

Comprehensive support for all catastrophes
Every catastrophe claim we handle
From fire and flood to earthquake and coastal surge — seven claim types, one approach: document the whole loss, price it independently, and give the carrier something specific to answer.
Fire Damage
Full documentation of structure, smoke, soot and contents loss — then a line-by-line negotiation with your carrier's estimate.

Independent slope-by-slope roof inspection and test squares that separate real hail bruising from the 'wear and tear' denial.

Claim detailsHow it works
What happens after you call
No fee up front, and no fee at all unless the claim recovers. Here is the whole process.
Free claim review
Call us and we read the policy — every coverage, endorsement, sub-limit and deductible. If your claim is being handled properly, we will tell you so.
Independent inspection
We inspect the property ourselves: every roof slope, moisture readings across affected and unaffected material, thermal scanning, HVAC, attic and detached structures.
Scope, estimate and inventory
A line-by-line replacement cost estimate in the same software carriers use, plus the contents inventory and any specialist reports the file needs.
Negotiation
We present the documentation, respond in writing to the carrier's position, and work the gap between the two estimates — through appraisal if it comes to that.
Settlement and follow-through
We track the actual cash value payment, the recoverable depreciation holdback and its deadline, and any supplemental claim as the rebuild uncovers more.
Why policyholders call us
Personalised advocacy, in your corner
When disaster strikes, the path to recovery can feel overwhelming. We understand the turmoil and confusion that follows a catastrophic event — and we take the insurance half of it off your hands.
We work for you, not the carrier
The adjuster your insurer sends is employed or contracted by the company paying the claim. We are licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance to represent the policyholder — and nobody else.
Local knowledge that shows up in the file
We are based in Alvin, not a call centre. We know which Friendswood streets took water in Harvey, which Galveston County addresses sit in TWIA territory, and how Brazoria County handles a substantial damage determination.
Documentation, not argument
Carriers respond to specifics. Test squares and impact counts, moisture mapping against a dry standard, wipe testing for soot migration, dated storm reports for your coordinates — evidence they have to answer in writing.
Nothing out of pocket
We work on contingency, capped by Texas law and set out in a written contract before anything begins. No fee up front. No fee if there is no recovery.
Service areas
Where we work
Based in Alvin, serving the Houston metro, the Galveston County coast and Texas beyond.

Flood Damage Restoration Tips for Texas Homeowners
Restoration is the long half of a flood. What you do between the cleanup and the rebuild determines whether you are finished in four months or fighting a mould claim in eight.

Frequently asked questions
Still unsure? A phone call costs nothing and usually answers it in five minutes.
What does a public insurance adjuster do?
A public insurance adjuster is licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance to represent the policyholder on a property damage claim. We read the policy, inspect and document the loss independently, prepare a line-by-line estimate and contents inventory, and negotiate the settlement with your insurance company. Unlike the adjuster your carrier sends, we work only for you.
How much does a public adjuster cost in Texas?
Texas public adjusters work on a contingency fee — an agreed percentage of the amount actually recovered on your claim. The percentage is capped by state law and must be set out in a written contract you sign before any work begins. There is nothing payable up front and nothing payable if there is no recovery.
Which areas do you serve?
We are based in Alvin and serve Houston, Pearland, Friendswood, League City, Dickinson, Santa Fe and the surrounding Brazoria, Harris and Galveston County communities, along with Corpus Christi and Laredo. We handle claims across Texas.
Can you help if my claim was already denied or underpaid?
Frequently, yes. A closed claim is not the same as a settled one, and many denials rest on a single limited inspection rather than on the physical evidence. Supplemental claims and reopenings are a normal part of the process. What matters is the deadline in your policy and under Texas law, so a denied claim should be reviewed promptly.
What types of damage claims do you handle?
Fire and smoke, flood, hail, water and pipe losses, storm and hurricane wind, earthquake, and coastal storm surge. We handle both residential and commercial claims, including business interruption on commercial policies.
Do I have to pay anything up front?
No. There are no out-of-pocket fees. The initial policy and damage review is free, and our fee is a percentage of the recovery paid only when your claim is settled.

Do not settle for the first number
If the offer does not cover the work, that gap is documentable. Free policy and damage review, no fee unless your claim recovers more.
