TWIA claims run on their own rules
A Texas Windstorm Insurance Association claim is not handled like a standard homeowner claim. TWIA has statutory deadlines for reporting, its own acceptance and denial process, and a specific appraisal mechanism for disputes over the amount of loss. Missing the reporting window is one of the few mistakes on a wind claim that cannot be fixed later.
The other common error is filing everything with the wrong carrier. If wind sits with TWIA and water damage from a burst pipe sits with the homeowner policy, filing both under one is a wasted month. We confirm which policy responds to which part of the loss before anything gets submitted.
